A year's supply for one adult of basic food:
- GRAINS - 400 lbs. (wheat, flour, rice, corn, oats, pasta, millet, rye, buckwheat, etc.)
- LEGUMES - 60 lbs. (dry beans, split peas, lentils)
- POWDERED MILK - 16 lbs.
- COOKING OIL - 10 quarts
- SUGAR & HONEY - 60 lbs.
- SALT - 8 lbs.
- WATER - 14 gallons (a 2-week emergency supply)
REMEMBER!!!
A week/month supply of food storage is far better than nothing at all. Start a step at a time, don't be overwhelmed.
DON'T FORGET TOILETRIES - toothpaste, toilet paper, dish soap, clothes soap, diapers, etc.
TO GET MORE FOOD FOR YOUR MONEY - shop the ads. Shopping the sales is the best way to get food storage on a budget.
Laura, I just wanted to tell you this is such a great site! You have done an amazing job! We have all been talking about the Prep Fair the other day & how it was so nice to just focus on one thing at a time (cooking methods) so we don't get overwhelmed. That was such a good idea, Thanks for all you've done to help everyone. We have NO EXCUSE now!
